Beautiful Beasts 1.26.19 #BreastCancer #Crossfit #Team

“Ma, why don’t you do the Beautiful Beasts event with me?” That was the question my daughter asked me back in December. I must have been in a daughter pleasing mood because I said, “Yes.” I knew it was for a good cause, breast cancer, and since I am a breast cancer survivor I committed to the event. Of course, I did not have any idea what this commitment would entail.

I had to train for it and then had to spend the day in competition mode. Boy, did I want to run away from this commitment but I made the commitment and just focused on one thought, this too shall pass!

Our training began weeks before the event. Then it was time! Ready or not, Laura, Mimi (teammates) and I were ready. We did have a team name… wait for it… “Master Cougars”- GROWL!

It’s here and Cross Fit Sanctuary was prepared. It was at this moment that I know there was no going back.


We were ready.  Bring it on.       

Beautiful Beast brought out the beauty and the beastly.  It was wonderful that we were able to show our strength, and at the same time show off our beauty.   

We worked hard that day. We dug deep to get through each WOD. We gave each other total support. We cheered each other on. We knew this was for a good cause and nothing was going to make us falter.


Laura, Mimi and I…WE DID IT! 3 WOD’s and standing stronger than when we started. However, when our coach, Bernie, walked over and handed us roses I knew we were true warriors, and this was not about getting to be in first place, but about knowing that you can do more than you think you can.

We are beautiful! We are strong! We have blessings that have been bestowed on us from our Creator! Together, in full combative mode WE CAN bench press cancer into oblivion.

Disney has done it again! In the re-imagined tale of “The Nutcracker.”

“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” tells the tale of a young Clara (Mackenzie Foy), who just lost her mother. Before her death, Clara’s mother told her of a gift she would receive and this gift contained everything she needed inside. Her godfather, Drosselmeyer (Morgan Freeman), gives her the gift at his annual holiday party. However, He did not give Clara the magical one-of-a-kind key that would unlock the gift. Clara does find the key but then it disappears into a mysterious parallel world.

She begins her search for the key in the parallel world and it is there she encounters Phillip (Jayden Fowor-Knight) the soldier who helps her in the search for the magical key. Their search will cross paths with a gang of mice and the regents, who preside over 3 of the 4 Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, and Land of Sweets. It’s the 4th Realm, the home of Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren) , where Clara’s key can be found.

In “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” Clara discovers her greatest strength could change the world.

Children are meant to explore, play and learn. A new picture book from Happy Fox Books helps to explain the joy of playing outdoors with real toys instead of staying cooped up inside on your computer. Mario and the Aliens  tells the story of Mario who makes friends with space aliens who want to learn about all the cool things that earth kids do to play. Even though Mario doesn’t know anything about riding a bike or playing tag or hide-and-go-seek, he soon learns how with his alien friends.

Satisfied at having discovered the secrets of earth children, the aliens return to their planet, while Mario learns the joys of playing outside. Time spent dreaming, creating and playing is not wasted time. Lets’ go out and play.

Family, Time of the Season

She Got Her Rock! Congratulations on Your Engagement Jess & Chris

What a wonderful occasion to get together with friends, who have become family. Celebrating a Wedding Engagement for two sweet kids ( yes, I called them kids!!! with love) !! Our parents had a chance to get together and chew the fat and it seems there was a Patriot fan in the house, just saying. I know zero about football.

All the music and fun could not entertain us more than we can entertain ourselves.

We danced like no one was watching. No aches and pains that night, just jubilation and laughter. The Copiague Fire House may never be the same again

Love was all around us and it was a perfect night for it. Jess, we are so happy for you and your ring, we mean fiance Chris, what a living doll and a good sport.

We put him to the test (well, Marlene did) and he passed with flying colors. Love you both. God bless you Jess and Chris and may today just be the beginning of a long and happy life together.
