The Huddle #Dining #Macaroni

Our day at Sleepy Hollow did not go without a Sleepy Hollow meal.  We started out to have an early dinner at the Bridgeview Tavern.  However, when we arrived at Bridgeview Tavern we were told we would have to wait two hours before being seated.   Oh, no!  We quickly turned our heels around and walked back towards the town to find another eatery.   We ended up finding, The Huddle.  The Huddle was quiet.  We walked right in, and, wondered if this was the place we should eat…  

As we reviewed The Huddle menu, we were happy to see they offered pizza.  This made my grandson, who is a picky eater, happy.  However, we quickly found out that The Huddle no longer offered pizza to eat.   SAY WHAT!  Huddle, we have a problem.  I explained to the waitress that my grandson will only eat pizza or macaroni.  Since they don’t offer macaroni, not listed on the menu, we will have to finish our drinks and find another eatery.   The waitress just calmly looked at me, and with a genuine smile, she  said, “Oh, we can make him macaroni.”  Wow!  NICE! It didn’t take them long to prepare the dish.  A plate of macaroni was placed in front of Christian and he began to gobble it down.  The plate was so full of macaroni we thought there was no way he could finish it all.   However, Christian did his little best, he ate, ate, ate it up, but, he did have a little help from Grandpa.

The rest of us ordered a pub staple.  A good old fashion hamburger, with fries.  The fries were addicting and the burger fattening good.
At The Huddle we sat, we ate, and we gathered our energy to continue the night in Sleepy Hollow.  The Huddle made up for their menu blunder, for what they took away they restored.

Sleepy Hollow – Headless Horsemans Hollow at Philipsburg Manor #Halloween #Headless #Haunted

Sleepy Hollow a quaint, quiet, beautiful, and strangely haunting town.  Sleep Hollow Village the town were Ichabod Crane had his infamous encounter with the headless horseman.  The fictional story, written by Washington Irving, called, The  Legend of Sleepy Hollow, aka, The Headless Horseman was the perfect choice to spend a Fall day, in October, and have a Halloween treat.

The grand kids had no idea where they drove up to.  Sleepy Hollow was just another story town.  We all had no clue has to how Hollow would get us in that spooky mood.   We had arrived in Sleepy Hollow  in the light of day, and during the day Sleepy Hollow was a bright green with nothing to fear.  Just a lot of Sleepy Hollow shine.  

But when the moon replaced the sun all the spooky came out.   Ghastly,  ghostly, scary things.  Sleepy Hollow went from sweet to haunted, in a devil’s blink.  Horsemen’s Hollow at Philipsburg Manor  Sleepy Hollow’s PremiumHaunted Attraction did the transforming.

With skulls abound and a headless horseman bridge we poked our way through.  I liked seeing the ghost of  Marie Antoinette, scudding around the town.  Had a little disagreement with my granddaughter, she kept insisting that the this lady could not have been Marie.  Ha!  Guess she didn’t know Marie  lost her head in the French Revolution which would make her appearance, in the headless horseman’s town, fitting.  A face that can scare any skull.

  It was an eating and breathing fire night.  At Sleepy Hollow, no skull is left un-turned. 

A treat- without a trick- is the best way to spend a spooky night with the family.

We had frightening fun with all the ghouls of Sleepy Hollow.

As the night darkened we headed home, thankful we were all intact.   However, we left Sleepy Hollow with stories of screams, and dying laughter.  Guess the family that scares together, stays together.  HA!

Voting With a Porpoise by Russell Glass and Sean Callahan #BOOKWORM

Voting With a Porpoise a book that entertains and educates its readers.  No matter their age!  It’s a story of a pod of dolphins who can’t find enough food in the reef where they have always lived and are face with an important decision:  stay in their long-time home or move on to more fruitful waters.  

So a vote was in order.  The group needed to vote on what their future would hold.  Stay or Leave!  However, the leader of the group, Finn, didn’t want Petey, the porpoise, to vote.  However, when Finn had a 6-pack ring wrapped around his beak, it was Petey the porpoise, who helped remove the ring around his beek.  With that Finn has a change of heart and allows Petey to vote.  

With Petey’s vote, the pod swims off for a new reef where they happily find plenty of food and a prosperous new life.

Voting With a Porpoise a story that will entertain children, and teach them about why elections are important.  And to make every vote count you need to get out and vote…
