Underrated Medication: Friendship

Friendship is a wildly underrated medication. Here is the proof. We had not been all together since my moms’ 90th Birthday Lunch in early March. Almost 6 months – a very long time for us. We have been together for over 60 years, and our parents knew each other as children in Malta. Actually Andy, Mercis’ dad and my mom Tessie are cousins.

After talking about how long is has been since we were together and feeling bad about not being able to celebrate our summer birthdays and realizing that the autumn birthdays don’t look so promising, we decided to meet while the weather was good. Good enough to stay outside and spend some time together. No fuss, no muss, ordered some pizza and chicken fingers and the must have garlic knots from D’Anna’s of Elmont Pizzeria & Ristorante. Paper plates and paper cups, you know Coney Island style dining. We had a wonderful afternoon hollering and laughing and sometimes just sitting in a comfortable silence that only happens between friends.

Our friendship is not a BIG thing but it is a million LITTLE things. We sometimes finish each others’ sentence. and then we agree to disagree and move on. Friendship takes love and patience and most of all forgiveness. Friendship is not a accident.

We are all living through some very scary times. But life is not so scary when you have a best friend.

Everyone has a friend during each stage of life. But only the lucky ones have the same friend in all stages of life. Friendship the underrated medication.

Willow – It’s a Dog’s Life

“Never say never” has always been my motto, and I forgot my own motto. See, I thought that I’d never, ever, let a dog into my life. We had lost 2 dogs, and the loss was heart wrenching. Needless to say, when you are making plans, God is making his own.

Meet Willow.

An Aussie-Tzu. A cross between an Austrailian Shephard and a Shih Tzu. A breed that I never heard of but they have so many cross breeds today who can keep track.

At 8 weeks old my daughter brought him home. Her home which ends up to be my home more than not. I advised her, as a parent, not to get a dog, but just like any child she did what she wanted and now Willow is apart of the family.

Of course, the hard part is the training and my daughter began to question herself, why did she want a dog? The answer, simple, just look at that face.

Willow has friends, too. Meet Jackson. My son’s dog. Willow and Jackson became best friends as soon as they met. Even though Jackson considers himself his boss.

Yes, Willow! A new member of the family, he has stolen our hearts, and made life more smile-able. I think I’m glad she didn’t listen to her mom… I mean what do I know anyway. 🙂

Beach Day 2020

Give me a coffee to change the things i can and the beach to accept the things I can’t. Every week the weather would not cooperate with my day off from work, until today I finally got to spend a day at the beach with my daughter and family. Life is a beach find your wave.

Happiness is being next to my people and watching them play all day long. Just the sky above, the sand below and the peace in my soul.

The thing about the beach, after 4 hours well you start to get hungry Must be all that fresh salt air.

We found a table at the neighborhood spot and enjoyed pizza, lobster rolls and fish and chips. Honestly it is always happy hour at the beach. Note: you must wear a mask before being seated.

You can be sure we left room for ice cream because you know you can’t be sad when you are eating ice cream. Oh Summer we love you.
